Getting Started With Mobile Phlebotomy

What is mobile phlebotomy?+

Mobile phlebotomy allows you to have your blood drawn at your home, office, or another approved location without traveling to a traditional laboratory or waiting at a walk-in center.

Why should I choose mobile blood collection instead of visiting a laboratory?+

Mobile collection eliminates the inconvenience of driving to a laboratory, searching for an available appointment, and spending time in a waiting room. A phlebotomist comes directly to you at the scheduled location.

Is mobile phlebotomy good for busy patients?+

Yes. Mobile blood collection is ideal for patients who have busy schedules, difficulty leaving home, transportation limitations, or simply prefer the convenience and privacy of an in-home appointment.

What can I expect during my appointment?+

The phlebotomist will verify your identity and laboratory order, explain the collection, draw the required specimens, label them, and prepare them for transport. Most visits are quick, professional, and completed with minimal disruption to your day.

Scheduling & Your Appointment

Is it easy to schedule an appointment?+

Yes. Our scheduling process is designed to be simple and convenient. Once we receive the necessary information and laboratory order, our team will help arrange an available collection time.

How quickly will someone respond to my request?+

We make every effort to respond promptly. Response times may vary depending on when your request is submitted and whether additional information is needed.

What time will my mobile phlebotomist arrive?+

You will receive a scheduled service window for your appointment. Your phlebotomist will contact you before arriving so you know when they are on the way.

Will I receive a call or text before the phlebotomist arrives?+

Yes. We provide advance notification before arriving at your home. Please make sure we have the correct phone number for the patient or caregiver.

What should I do if my phlebotomist is running late?+

Traffic and earlier appointments can occasionally cause delays. If your phlebotomist is delayed, our team will make every effort to notify you and provide an updated arrival time.

How can I confirm my appointment?+

You may contact our scheduling team to confirm your appointment date, service window, address, and contact information.

What happens if the phlebotomist does not arrive?+

Please contact our office immediately. We will review the appointment status and work to arrange the earliest available collection.

How quickly can appointments be scheduled?+

Same-day availability is common across Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Recurring panels can also be placed on a standing schedule.

Can I schedule multiple services during one appointment?+

In many cases, yes. If your order includes multiple specimen types, such as blood and urine, let our scheduling team know so sufficient time can be reserved for your visit.

Can you collect specimens from multiple people during the same visit?+

Yes. Household, family, or group collections may be available. Each patient must have any required identification, paperwork, and laboratory order.

What happens if I need to reschedule?+

Contact us as soon as possible. Rescheduling is subject to availability, and a fee may apply depending on how much notice is provided before the scheduled appointment.

What happens if I miss my appointment?+

Contact our scheduling team to arrange another appointment. A missed-appointment fee may apply if the phlebotomist has already traveled to the collection location.

Patients Who Need Extra Care

Are your phlebotomists experienced with elderly patients?+

Yes. Our mobile phlebotomists regularly work with seniors, homebound patients, and individuals who may require additional patience and assistance. We focus on providing gentle, respectful, and compassionate care.

Can you assist patients with disabilities or cognitive impairments?+

Yes. Our phlebotomists explain the collection process, provide reassurance, and work with caregivers to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Does having blood drawn hurt?+

Most patients experience only a brief pinch. Our experienced phlebotomists use gentle techniques and make every effort to provide a smooth, comfortable, and nearly painless experience.

What if I am afraid of needles?+

Please let the phlebotomist know before the collection begins. Our team will explain each step, help you feel comfortable, and make every effort to provide a gentle and efficient blood draw.

What if I have fainted during a previous blood draw?+

Please let us know before your appointment. The phlebotomist can take appropriate precautions, position you safely, monitor how you are feeling, and allow additional time when necessary.

What should I do if I begin to feel dizzy or faint?+

Tell the phlebotomist immediately. Do not stand up or attempt to walk until the phlebotomist determines that it is safe. If you have a history of fainting, please inform us in advance.

Can you draw blood from patients who are considered a "hard stick"?+

Yes. Our phlebotomists are experienced with small, rolling, fragile, and difficult-to-access veins. Please mention any previous difficulties when scheduling so we can prepare appropriately.

How many times will the phlebotomist attempt the blood draw?+

Our goal is to complete the collection with as few attempts as possible. The phlebotomist will assess the patient's veins and follow appropriate safety procedures. If the collection cannot be completed safely, our team will discuss the next available option.

Can I tell the phlebotomist which arm is normally best?+

Absolutely. We encourage patients and caregivers to share information about previous successful blood draws, preferred arms, sensitive areas, or veins that should be avoided. The phlebotomist will consider that information while making the final determination based on safety and clinical judgment.

Preparing for Your Visit

How should I prepare for my blood draw?+

Unless your doctor has instructed you to limit fluids, drinking water before your appointment may make the collection easier. Follow any fasting or medication instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

What should I have ready when the phlebotomist arrives?+

Please have a valid photo ID, your laboratory order if it was not submitted in advance, insurance information when applicable, any required collection kits, and a safe, clean, well-lit area for the collection.

How long does an in-home blood draw take?+

Most routine collections are completed quickly, often within 10 to 15 minutes. Complicated collections or additional specimens may require more time.

Can a caregiver remain with the patient?+

Yes. A family member or caregiver may remain with the patient when appropriate. Their presence can be especially helpful for elderly, disabled, or anxious patients.

Will the phlebotomist explain the procedure?+

Yes. The phlebotomist will explain the collection process and answer reasonable questions before and during the visit.

Urine Sample Collection

What happens if I cannot provide a urine sample during the appointment?+

Please tell the phlebotomist. Depending on the order and scheduling availability, our team will explain the available options for completing or arranging pickup of the specimen.

Can I collect my urine sample before the phlebotomist arrives?+

Please follow the instructions provided by our team. Some samples may be collected shortly before the appointment, while others have specific timing, container, storage, or handling requirements.

Will I have privacy while providing a urine sample?+

Yes. We respect every patient's privacy and dignity. The phlebotomist will provide instructions and allow the patient appropriate privacy while the specimen is collected.

Can the phlebotomist wait while I provide a urine sample?+

The phlebotomist will allow a reasonable amount of time while staying mindful of other scheduled patients. If you need additional time, please let our scheduling team know in advance whenever possible.

Lab Orders & Results

What types of tests can be collected at home?+

Many routine and specialty blood and urine tests may qualify for mobile collection. Availability depends on the test, specimen requirements, laboratory order, and service area.

Can you help me determine whether my test qualifies for mobile collection?+

Yes. Send us your laboratory order or a list of the requested tests. Our team will confirm whether they can be collected at home and whether special preparation is required.

Can you collect blood for tests ordered by my doctor?+

Yes. We can collect specimens based on a valid laboratory order from an authorized healthcare provider. The order should include the patient's information, requested tests, provider information, and any special collection instructions.

Where are my specimens taken after the collection?+

After collection, your specimens are labeled, handled, and transported to the designated laboratory listed for your order or arranged during scheduling.

Who will provide my test results?+

Test results are generally issued by the laboratory that performs the testing and shared with the ordering healthcare provider. Please contact your provider or the performing laboratory if you have questions about receiving your results.

Can the phlebotomist answer questions about my health or test results?+

The phlebotomist may answer questions about specimen collection and general preparation. Questions about your medical condition, diagnosis, medications, or interpretation of test results should be directed to your healthcare provider.

Can I use the service for all my future blood work?+

You may schedule mobile collection whenever you have an eligible laboratory order and service is available in your area. Some specialty tests may have specific collection or laboratory requirements that must be confirmed in advance.

What if I have a specialty collection kit?+

Tell us when scheduling and provide the name of the specialty laboratory. We will confirm whether the kit can be collected and whether special processing, freezing, or shipping is required.

Can you pick up a specimen that I collected myself?+

Specimen pickup may be available for eligible samples. Contact us before collecting the specimen so we can confirm the correct container, timing, labeling, and storage requirements.

What happens if the specimen is rejected by the laboratory?+

A laboratory may reject a specimen because of insufficient quantity, clotting, improper labeling, or a transportation issue. If this happens, we will review the circumstances and explain whether recollection is needed.

Will I have to pay for a recollection?+

Recollection charges depend on the reason the specimen was rejected. Our team will review the situation before determining whether an additional fee applies.

Payment & Insurance

Do you accept insurance?+

Insurance acceptance depends on the performing laboratory and the services requested. The mobile collection fee itself may not be covered by insurance. Confirm all charges before scheduling.

What forms of payment do you accept?+

We accept major credit and debit cards through our online booking system.

When is payment due?+

Payment is collected online at the time of booking.

Will I receive a receipt?+

Yes. You will receive an order confirmation and receipt by email after booking.

Can I submit the mobile collection fee to my insurance?+

You may use your receipt to request reimbursement, but coverage is not guaranteed. Contact your insurance company directly to determine whether mobile phlebotomy is covered under your plan.

Trust, Safety & Continuity

Can I request the same phlebotomist for future visits?+

Yes. You may request a preferred phlebotomist, and we will make every effort to accommodate your request. However, availability cannot be guaranteed.

Can I request a different phlebotomist?+

Yes. If you have a concern about a previous visit, please contact our office. We will document your concern and review available options for future appointments.

How do I know who is coming to my home?+

Your assigned phlebotomist should identify themselves upon arrival. If you are uncertain about the person at your door, please contact our office before allowing entry.

What should I do if I have a concern about my visit?+

Please contact our office as soon as possible and provide the patient's name, appointment date, and a description of the concern. Our team will review the situation and work to resolve it promptly.

What happens if the blood or urine collection cannot be completed?+

The phlebotomist will document the reason the collection was not completed. Our team will then explain whether another visit, a new order, or additional instructions from the healthcare provider are needed.

How do you protect my privacy?+

Patient information is handled confidentially and shared only with individuals authorized to be involved in ordering, collecting, or processing your laboratory tests.

How can I share feedback about my experience?+

Contact our office with the patient's name, appointment date, and details of your experience. Feedback is reviewed to help us maintain a high standard of service.

For Concierge Physicians & Practices

Do you perform laboratory testing?+

Can we continue using Quest Diagnostics?+

Yes. We are laboratory neutral and deliver every specimen directly to Quest Diagnostics if that is your preferred laboratory.

Can we continue using Labcorp?+

Yes. The same applies to Labcorp, or any other laboratory you or your practice already works with.

Can you deliver to our preferred laboratory, even if it's a specialty or research lab?+

In most cases, yes. Let us know which laboratory you use and we'll confirm coverage, timing, and any specific handling requirements.

Do you travel to patient homes?+

Yes. In-home and at-home blood draws are one of our most requested services, including for geriatric and homebound patients.

Can you visit executive offices?+

Yes. We regularly perform office blood collections at executive offices and corporate headquarters, scheduled around the patient's calendar.

Do you collect at hotels?+

Yes. Hotel blood collections are available for traveling executives, entertainers, professional athletes, and other visiting clients who require discretion.

Can you collect from nursing facilities?+

In many cases, yes. Contact our team with details on the facility and patient needs so we can confirm availability.

Do patients know you are a third party?+

That's entirely up to your practice. Many physicians choose our white-label service, where our team presents as an extension of your practice rather than a separate company.

Can services be white-labeled?+

Yes. White-label service is one of our core offerings: professional appearance, professional communication, and a patient experience that reflects your brand, not ours.

How are specimens transported?+

Specimens are transported using temperature-appropriate, chain-of-custody protocols directly to your preferred laboratory.

Are your phlebotomists licensed and insured?+

Yes. Every phlebotomist is licensed, insured, background-checked, and trained specifically to serve concierge and executive medicine patients.
